Privacy Policy

Abu Dhabi Foodies operates abudhabifoodies.ae (the “Platform”) from the United Arab Emirates. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your choices — in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL). • Discovery flow selections. The answers you pick in our guided discovery flow are logged in aggregate (as anonymous search-trend counts and per-restaurant impression counts) to improve recommendations. They are not tied to your identity or device.
• Technical data. IP address and basic request data, used for security and rate limiting (e.g. limiting how many requests can be sent from one address).
• Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the Platform is used — pages viewed, features clicked (e.g. call, directions, reserve buttons), and similar events. Analytics data is pseudonymous; we do not use it to identify you personally.
• Submissions. If you submit a deal or recommendation, we collect what you provide, which may include your name and contact details, so we can verify and follow up.
• Location (optional). If you use “near me”, your browser asks for permission and your position is used on your device to sort results by distance. We do not store your location on our servers.
• Favourites and preferences. Saved restaurants and your theme choice are stored in your browser’s local storage, on your device only.
• Business contact details. For venue outreach and partnerships we process publicly available or directly provided business contact information (venue name, role, business email/phone).

• To provide and improve the Platform, including the guided discovery flow.
• To protect the Platform (rate limiting, abuse and fraud prevention).
• To verify and manage submitted deals and recommendations.
• To measure and improve how features are used (analytics).
• To contact venues about listings, corrections, and partnerships.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your discovery selections for advertising.

We use trusted service providers to run the Platform, who process data on our behalf under their own security commitments: hosting and delivery (Vercel), database (Supabase), AI-assisted content extraction and deal verification (Anthropic) and related search and enrichment services, and analytics (PostHog). Some providers are located outside the UAE; where data is transferred internationally we rely on providers with appropriate safeguards. We may disclose data where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

Submissions and operational records are kept for as long as needed for the purposes above, then deleted or anonymised. Rate-limiting data is short-lived. Local-storage data (favourites, theme) stays on your device until you clear it.

Subject to the PDPL, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, or object to certain processing. Email contact@abudhabifoodies.ae and we will respond within a reasonable period.

The Platform uses local storage for preferences and analytics identifiers to measure usage. You can clear these in your browser at any time; the Platform remains usable without them.

The Platform is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version; material changes will be highlighted on the Platform.
